MRTB Appoints Acting Registrar
The Medical Rehabilitation Therapists (Registration) Board of Nigeria (MRTB) established by Decree 38 of 1988/Acts M9 LFN 2004, for the regulation and control of training and practice of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Chiropractic and Osteopathic Medicine Professions in the Health Sector in Nigeria, held a 2-day Governing Board meeting on the 15th and 16th September, 2014 at the Board Room of the MRTB Secretariat, Central Medical Library Compound, Yaba, Lagos.
The meeting which was well attended by Board members from different states and interest groups was chaired by the Board Chairman Col. Dr. Paschal Mogbo.
The highlight of the meeting was the appointment of the new Acting Registrar/CEO Mrs. Olufunke T. Akanle. The Acting Registrar/CEO replaces Dr. Joshua Dele Jogunola whose tenure as the Registrar/CEO has expired with effect from 15th September, 2014.
The Medical Rehabilitation Therapists (Registration) Board of Nigeria
- Determines what standards of knowledge and skill are to be attained by persons seeking to become members of the relevant profession and raising those standards from time to time as circumstance may permit;
- Secures in accordance with the provision of this Act the establishment and maintenance of a register of persons registered under this Act as members of the relevant profession and the publication from time to time of lists of those persons;
- Conducts examinations in the relevant profession and awarding certificates or diplomas to successful candidates as appropriate; and for such purpose the Board shall prescribe fees to be paid in respect thereof; and
- Performs the other functions conferred on the Board by this Act.
The general public is to take note of this development.
