The Medical Rehabilitation Therapists (Reg) Board led by its Registrar, Dr.(Mrs) Akanle Olufunke paid a send forth visit to its pioneer Registrar/CEO, Professor Isaac Owoeye at his residence on Tuesday the 4th of September 2018. This was made as a celebration of his exemplary service in office between 1992 and 2004. The visit had in attendance the immediate past c...hairman of the Board, Col(Rtd) Dr. Pascal Mogbo, Heads of Departments of Physiotherapy of Academic Institutions and Hospitals amongst which were the Dr. Oluwafemi Odebiyi, HOD Physiotherapy (academics) and Dr. (Mrs) Funke Ajiboye HOD Physiotherapy (Hospital) both of LUTH, Dr. Akorede Oni of the General Hospital Gbagada, Mrs Adeife of the Neuropsychiatric hospital Yaba, Mrs Olayemi Amodeni of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Mr. Omobolaji Gaji, Dr. Adewumi Olalekan of LASUTH, Mrs Olutoyin Sonuyi, Mrs Modupe Adesanya, Dr (Mrs) Bosede Tella as well as Dr. Udoka Okafor and other notable well wishers.
The Registrar, in her speech, thanked the former Registrar for the firm regulatory foundation he laid, upon which the acceptance and development of Physiotherapy and other Medical Rehabilitation professions in Nigeria has been made possible. She also further thanked him for his encouragement and support to his successors and made note of a certain day she received him during an unannounced courtesy visit to her office when she newly became Registrar. She expressed how the conversation and advise given to her remains priceless to her administration, especially coming from the pioneer Registrar.
It was an emotional gathering during which tears of joy flowed freely during the testimonials of the Professor as they were given by most of the guests who had either been his students, staff or distant beneficiaries in the time past before his recent retirement. The MRTB also made use of this brief event to present an award and gifts to the erstwhile Registrar. An obviously happy and grateful Host, Professor Owoeye together with his wife and other family members could not hide their joy by the presence of the Board and its entourage. He went round to personally shake hands to everyone present in appreciation of the honour deemed worthy of him.
